Undoubtedly one of the most influential English singer-songwriters of the 20th century, Nick Drake found little mainstream success during his lifetime. However, since his untimely death at the age of 26 (41 years ago this week), his fragile acoustic, autumnal music has and continues to touch the hearts of millions of people.
In 2010 and 2011, two very special commemorative concerts, curated by his original producer, Joe Boyd, took place in Melbourne and London. Guests included Vashti Bunyan, Green Gartside, Robyn Hitchcock, Krystle Warren, Scott Matthews, Teddy Thompson, Danny Thompson and many others. The cream of the concerts were released by Navigator Records in 2013 on the ‘Way To Blue – The Songs Of Nick Drake’ album.
For this week only anyone buying the album from Propermusic.com will also receive a free limited edition blue vinyl 7″ of Australian indie/folk duo Luluc performing Drake’s ‘Things Behind The Sun,’ backed by a beautiful live rendition of ‘At The Chime Of A City Clock’ by Lisa Hannigan.
